Playa Bowls is opening in West Hartford soon, so co-founder Rob Giuliani and West Hartford co-owner Mike Bogden stopped by to showed us how to make their signature Nutella Bowl.
Playa Bowls’ West Hartford Co-Owners, Mitch Jackson and Mike Bogdan - both business professionals and long-time friends - believe this collaboration promises to fill a growing need for family-oriented and health-conscious meal options in West Hartford.
The owner of a well-established salon and spa looked to change business locations and rebrand. With a new mindset and an expanded list of services to reach a broader demographic base, they needed help shifting their internal and external communications, the look and feel of the brand, and eventually publicize their new business.
While walking to a meeting last week, I happened to meet the construction manager for Playa Bowls, which will be opening in the former Potbelly location at 51 Memorial Rd. He said that things are moving along, and the hope is for an opening around Thanksgiving.

Joe Ploof from Hanging Hill Brewery joins Eyewitness 3’s Better Connecticut for a segment on the upcoming Barnside Brews Festival.
Featuring seasonal craft beers by Hanging Hills Brewery, the festival will feature live music from Hartford band Among the Acres, as well as games, crafts for children and other entertainment. Food will be available for purchase from two on-site food trucks, Craft Bird and Donut Crazy, and guests have access to the many restaurants.
Tickets are $10 in advance online through Eventbrite [search: Barnside Brews] and $15 at the door. Children 12 and under attend for free and can enjoy fall games and activities.”
Local business offers amazing products but the public is unaware and often un-interested in visiting because of the location.
The Shops at Farmington Valley wanted to host an event to generate additional traffic to The Shops, while targeting a young adult audience that is increasingly prominent in the area - which they haven’t been able to reach with their often more family-oriented events.
